One side has open-bottom slots for tall items (like water bottles, flashlights). The other side has closed-bottom slots for smaller items. Inside the roomy main compartment are two snap-out panels to divide the space into halves or thirds as needed (to separate dirty clothes from clean, shoes from towels, etc).
